The Savannah Arts Wind Ensemble had their Autumn Nights Concert this past Friday. The Orchestra performed as well this past Tuesday, I haven't gotten the videos up for that one yet. Hannah had a busy week with rehearsals for the School Musical Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella and well as rehearsals for the concerts, the performances and then Armstrong Orchestra rehearsals as well. Oh ya and she has several AP courses. LOL she seems to thrive on challenge. Enjoy the videos below.

Hannah got to select an elective during camp. She choose Steel Drums. This was the elective concert at the end of camp. She had a lot of fun.
Stars and Stripes - FSU Music Camp Wind Orchestra 2015
Hannah got to play Piccolo in this piece. All the flutes that had a Piccolo and could memorize the part were brought to the front of the stage to play their part. The brass followed them.

FSU Summer Music Camp - Let the Amen Sound
Hannah placed 5th chair out of 38 flutes from around the country and from some out of country. The recording does not give this music justice. We were up front with my video camera so the quality wasn't great.

Savannah Winds Spring Concert
Last night was he Savannah Winds Spring Concert. Hannah plays Flute with the group and enjoys the challenge and benefits of playing with a group of professionals and college students. They are directed by Mark B. Johnson.
Hannah had a great time playing and her favorite was La Quintessenza because it had a very Tim Burton feel to it.

District Honor Band
Hannah placed first chair for District Honor Band this year with an audition score of 9.99 in the 9th and 10th grade division. Our district is comprised of 11 counties in Georgia. She had some solos and during rehersal noticed a piccolo part. Thinking ahead she brought the piccolo she had borrowed from John Murphy for the Youth Orchestra and asked the guest conductor if she could play the part so for the march she played piccolo.
The guest conductor was Dr. Jaclyn Hartenberger who serves as Associate Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Georgia where she conducts the Wind Symphony and teaches undergraduate conducting.
For District Honor Band, the students arrive at about 6:00 pm on a Wednesday and meet the guest conductor and receive the music for the first time. They stay until about 9:30pm and then return on Thursday morning at 10:00 am and work until 5:00 pm taking a break for lunch. Friday is that similar only they get done a bit earlier and then perform the concert at 7:00 pm.
