New School Year!

Georgia wins the Little League World Series!!!!!

It is the beginning of the school year! Patrick started on the 15th and Hannah started on the 22nd. At least this year all the vacations will be at the same time. Both had a good day, Hannah was upset over the amount of homework given, (she didn't think there was enough!).

Anyway, Hannah's school is doing their one fundraiser for the year. It is the Sally Foster fundraiser. They have some really good stuff and the wrapping paper is supposed to be some of the best. The school gets 50% of the proceeds.

Fishing at the pond

We spent Saturday at JoAnna's Dad's place with Papa Jim and Grandma Joyce. We had a great day fishing, talking and eating.

Hannah caught the first fish of the day catching a 45 lbs. catfish as seen in the picture (she named it Tom). It might have been about 2 lbs.

Patrick worked hard to get his new fishing pole ready.

Patrick caught 3 Brim. It was great. Eric worked hard as well with no results to show except a hook in the finger and lots of worm blood on his hands. Patrick didn't get the elusive catfish but was happy and ready to go again.

New addition to the family

Well we did it! We have a new addition to our family.

We adopted a Pomeranian! For those who didn't know, Fluffy our Pomeranian of 14 years passed away in February. We discovered quickly that we needed to have a dog in the house and it wasn't very hard to realize that we wanted another POM. We decided to wait until after our St. Thomas Trip and then we would look. Well we found a Breeder that happened to have one that was to small to breed or show. (they only breed for show not for pets) so he was willing to part with her. Her given name is Benray's Majestic's Diva So we call her Diva and that she is. She has loved the attention and if you try and ignore her she will ensure you can't.

Our little Diva. She doesn't have full run of the house yet but is doing well potty training.
Sophie our cat is not impressed at all. I think she liked that Fluffy just laid around with her instead of wanting to play. She'll get over it! LOL

Fluffy and Grandma Ivey relaxing. We will miss you fluffy!

ATA Regional Championships

Patrick competed in the ATA Atlanta Regional Championships this past weekend. He did extremely well! Here is the breakdown of how he did:

5th in Extreme weapons,
4th in Traditional Weapons
4th in Traditional Forms
and
3rd in Sparring!!!

Patrick in the end was up against all higher belts than himself. For third, he was against recommended black belts!

St Thomas Trip

Well we have returned from the islands! We had a great trip. We did so much it is hard to cover it all at one time.

My sister's wedding was beautiful a
nd we had a great time. Rob's family is great and we enjoyed meeting them and talking with them. They had a beautiful background of the ocean and they arrived by boat and processed up the dock.

It was a great time to see family that we haven't seen in a long time.

Grandma Sharp was able to attend. The seas were calm enough to make the boat transitions and rides very smooth.

We had a great time just chilling on the beach watching the iguanas and snorkeling sunken boats. It was a very relaxing vacation.

We look forward to attending my brother's wedding Labor Day in Santa Barbra CA. It will be a weekend trip so it will be a quick trip.

Return from Flip Fest

Well, she's back!! JoAnna, Patrick and I drove up to Knoxville, TN on Thursday. We stayed with Amy and Monty Sharp, who were AWESOME hosts. We spent Thursday evening with them, and headed over to Crossville on Friday. Thank you so much for opening your house to us Amy and Monty. We arrived at the camp on Friday in time to see the "Parent Show", which consisted of the campers showing the parents the new skills they learned. Some of Hannah's new skills included a cartwheel and back walkover on the balance beam. How difficult it was to tear her away from camp when it was over!!!!! She will definately be going back!

She got to go jet skiing on the lake and did the ropes course with a 40 ft rope swing that swings out over the lake. She was having so much fun that we had to practially drag her from camp. She wanted to stay another week. She had a lot of fun with the other girls from her gym, and the new friends she met from other states.

Hannah got to meet and train with Olympians and top college athletes and coaches.

Flip Fest

Well, Hannah left for Flipfest gymnastics camp. The van came and picked her up at 4:15am this morning for the long haul to Tennessee. She will be gone a week, spending almost 8 hours a day training and the rest of the time doing normal camp stuff. They are on a lake and have lots of activities. She will get to meet and work out with several Olympic gold Medalist, a couple of which JoAnna and I got to see at the '96 Olympics in Atlanta.

We know she will have fun and boy is it hard the first time a child goes off to camp all by herself and that far away. Her bunk mate is next to her in the van so they should have fun!

Mowing the Grass

Patrick got to learn how to cut the grass today. He did a really good job. We live on a street with several military families so he is hoping to put the skill to good work.

I was not far from him while he cut and he already knew some basics like foot and leg protection and so I was able to help with hearing and eye protection.

We actually have a good size yard so we didn't get the back cut. It doesn't help that it is 87 degrees at 7:30 am and then in the 100s until 5:30 - 6:00 pm. It did go a lot faster with him mowing and me edging though.

Good Job Patrick!!!

What's Happening

Well Patrick had a sleepover with a few classmates last night and went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 again. They apparently stayed up all night so when Patrick came home, they had to coax him out of the car and he curled up in a chair and crashed. We hope he has enough energy to go to practice today.

Hannah spent part of the morning at the pool with JoAnna and then went onto practice this afternoon.

Thank goodness for the short week. It is averaging to 100's this week with a slight chance of some sprinkles toward the end of the weekend. We need rain so bad.

If you want me to drop you an email when the blog is updated, let me know and I will add you to the list.

Memorial Day

We hope that everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. We had a relaxing time and then Monday we were invited to go with our friends the Baxters up the street on thier boat. We had a blast as you can see from the pictures.

All of us had a great time on the tube with Patrick, JoAnna and Eric getting thrown. Hannah was able to stay in the tube the whole time.
That afternoon, JoAnna got in the water to try and ski. Well, she popped up like a natural and made it all the way down the river.

We both agree that we used muscles that we forgot we had.
